Tech Corps Wisconsin, Inc.
is pleased to announce the latest effort in its continued support
of children in the state and specifically within the Southeast Wisconsin
area with the announcement of a project for Racine's Henry Mitchell
Middle School.
"We are helping the school with this project by supplying thirty-five
complete donated computer systems, two new network switches and one
laser printer refurbished by our group, valued at approximately $15,000,
to be placed into a keyboarding lab. We will also provide the labor
and expertise to network the entire computer lab using components
purchased by the school" said Michael Pitsch; State Coordinator for
Tech Corps Wisconsin, Inc. April 28, is the target date for the installation
of the computers at the second Racine middle school out of the four
selected, to be completed by the group.
The computers will be used
for keyboarding classes, word processing, and Internet research as
well as for other curricular purposes. The lab will be connected to
the Internet, via an existing broadband telecommunications connection
installed by the district.
This project is a continued
experiment in re-defining how education is delivered to our children,
wherever they are, to better prepare them to meet the challenges of
their futures. The collaborative nature of the project includes a
number of public and private businesses throughout SE Wisconsin who
provided the donations and the volunteers who are completing the work.
"We are pleased to have been asked to participate in this venture
to help make a difference in the futures of our children, especially
in our home town," said Pitsch.
