College Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP)
Racine campus student chapter, Tech Corps Wisconsin, Inc., and Environmental
Innovations, Inc. (EI) will be joining forces on Saturday, October
28, 2000, in conjunction with Racine's Make a Difference Day. For
this one-day event, these organizations will be offering the community
a site to bring old or unused computers. The computers collected will
be donated to either Tech Corps Wisconsin, Inc. for refurbishing/reuse
or to Environmental Innovations, Inc. (EI) for precious metals and
plastics recycling/reclamation. The drop-off location will be in the
parking lot of Tech Corps Wisconsin, Inc. at 1321 Racine Street, Racine
from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Microwaves or televisions will not
be accepted. Residents who bring their computer systems will be asked
to make a $5.00 tax-deductible donation per computer monitor to cover
costs for treatment of hazardous materials contained inside the monitors.
Gateway Technical
College AITP Racine campus student chapter is an organization comprised
of students planning and pursuing a career in information technology
or a related field. AITP is a national organization that also has
chapters for professionals within the information technology field.
Tech Corps Wisconsin,
Inc. is a statewide, non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing
K-12 teaching and learning through the effective use of volunteers
to integrate technology into the educational environment.
Environmental Innovations,
Inc. (EI) is an environmental consulting and clean-up company that
serves Southeastern Wisconsin industrial and commercial businesses.
